Hello, I got the idea, if possible, implementing some features to bahamut, for users to deal with spam. The idea is, adding a user mode, if enabled, all incoming msg with the pattern http* and www* will be blocked, if the sender is unregistered, Since most of spam I've seen, spam bots, are unregistered, so, registered users can override the mode. thanks

With all due respect this will just encourage spam bots to register handles with services and do little to curb unwanted spam IMO. It's always been my opinion that the best way to combat spam is to have active operators :-) Alex On Sat, Feb 27, 2010 at 1:13 PM, Yoba@DAL.net <yoba@dal.net> wrote:

Spam bots, are *mostly* self extracted, and, may loads clone, I doubt, 1 .exe file being spreaded across the next, will have the ability to identify to services in order to have the +r Besides, it can be done in a different way, Server Admin or opers with special privileges, would be able to add specific url to the *spam list* and, those list cant be passed across the ircd. The list, talking about exploited url spreading malicious files, as the spam bot itself, which cannot load and identify to a registered nickname Sorry, for the delay From: alex@marz.ca [mailto:alex@marz.ca] On Behalf Of Horizon Sent: Saturday, February 27, 2010 9:47 PM To: Yoba@DAL.net Cc: dalnet-src@dal.net Subject: Re: [DALnet-src] usermod and spam With all due respect this will just encourage spam bots to register handles with services and do little to curb unwanted spam IMO.
