Hi, Jacob.
My name is Jacob Cowen and I am an engineer/tester for the Navy. I am attempting to provide a solution to replace existing chat services and Bahamaut was introduced to me as an option.
The DALNet introduction states that Bahamut 2.x supports many newer IRCd features such as SSL encryption.
This section is critical as Bahamut needs to provided S2S encryption/security as well as C2S. Is there a section where this is written out how to implement and configure security/encryption or is there someone who can spell it out for me?
Apologies for the late reply; your email was stuck in moderation because you're not a member of this mailing list. For S2S encryption, we use RC4 with DH key exchange. This can be enabled with the "E" flag in the "connect" block on both servers. For C2S encryption, we use TLS with standard public/private key infrastructure (either self-signed or issued by a CA). This can be enabled with the "S" flag in the "port" block on the server. If you need additional help, it'll probably be easier to catch one of us in #bahamut on irc.dal.net. That way we can answer questions a little quicker and more interactively. -- Ryan Smith <xpsycho@dal.net> Global IRC Operator and SRA The DALnet IRC Network PGP Fingerprint: 8A27 3349 2B43 D378 6349 8674 F13A D7BA C90E D44E
