I'll defer to Kobi to speak on the implementation specifics - but this was discussed on the coders list when the patch set was first submitted. I agree, though, that it should have been on the public list rather than the private list. That was my mistake.

That said, after the discussion if there's interest in reverting that feature (or revisiting the implementation of it), I'll release the changes quickly.
