Bahamut Feature Announcement: spam filter

Hi all, For those of you who are not involved in the other internal discussions about this. We wanted to announce a new feature that has been approved by majority of server admins. We’re adding a new spam filtering technique to Bahamut and it takes a similar approach as to how other networks have targeted the same problem. You can see the pull request here: https://github.com/DALnet/bahamut/pull/37 <https://github.com/DALnet/bahamut/pull/37> Please feel free to start a discussion and provide comments/feedback as we’re hoping to expand on it. Regards, Emilio /skill

At the onset, would like to congratulate everyone especially key people behind developing/reviewing/approving on a feature that was much awaited personally in bahamut ircd terms. Although, would be great to see once rolled into production. Apparently, it works in conjuction to services; but I do have a question - does it also have the capability to pick up regularly updated information listed on DNSBL/RBL sources to nail down Open Proxies, MTA spam, and a long list... etc. To simply put, I have been witnessing some heavy spam and floods from such sources of late, unsure of whether current working BOPM's and HOPM's are being skipped or not and creating a menace in some big channels around the network. Keen to understand how this really works. If it takes these into context we really have a winner here. Cheers! /sps On Mon, Aug 20, 2018 at 10:55 PM, Emilio Escobar <skilldalnet@gmail.com> wrote:

No, that's a job for the proxy monitors (BOPM OR HOPM). We're only using a limited number of dnsbl lists in order not to hit false positives so this might be the reason, however, it is possible that one of the servers' BOPM is broken so if you see such behavior, please report it to #OperHelp and someone will look into it (save a /whois or /whowas of the abuser so they'll have all the information). -Kobi.
