Hello Alex,
I've upgraded a server 2 years ago, from i386 to x86_64 and yes,
I did have some trouble with gethostbyname(); but I fixed it, I think
by tinkering with config.h.
It's been a long time since then but if you want, I can open up my
archives and explain what I did to make it work on x86_64 in detail.

Hi,
Can you please confirm whether there are any issues with your software
under FreeBSD/amd64? I am having issues with hostname lookups of
connecting clients constantly failing.
There is an instance of bind running on the machine thats running the
ircd. nslookup requests are working fine on the machine. I have tried
completely disabling the firewall on the machine incase the firewall
(pf) was dropping packets.. This didnt help.
I dont recall having the problem on FreeBSD/i386, so am curious whether
this is something thats a bug specific to 64 bit builds.
I am running FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE/amd64 on a Q6600 CPU.
If you require further information, please let me know.
