Hi Emilio, Well the thought is that as channel notices is handled differently than channel messages by different irc clients and so perhaps there should be a way to treat a channel notice differently than a regular channel message in the ircd. Unfortunately I dont have any specific cases where channel notices has been used for flooding, its more based off of a user complaint and a quick test to see how its actually handled by mIRC by default. +M is excellent though Im sure some channels only want to use it when their channel is actually having trouble and not at all time, while a chan mode for filtering chan notices might rather be used at all times? Im not sure in which direction bahamut is going, though I wouldnt want bahamut turning into some bloatware ;) ./DreamHealer ---- On Tue, 27 Mar 2018 01:34:57 +0200 Emilio Escobar <skilldalnet@gmail.com> wrote ---- Hi Fredrik, Trying to understand more of the context behind this request. Are these notices sent by unregistered nicknames or actual/active members of the team? Just want to avoid going down a rabbit hole where we’re trying to compensate within Bahamut inefficient implementations of certain features and/or messages. We had a user complaining about bahamut not being able to filter those out and that his irc client treated them badly, so I installed mIRC client for the first in ~15 years and checked it out and it turns out by _default_ mIRC seem to do some weird stuff with channel notices. It gave out this horribly laggy pinging noise doing god knows what to this poor irc client. For sure it did something more irritating than an ordinary channel message would do, so perhaps we should consider giving channel owners a way of specifically filter those channel notices out?. Not sure how often channel notices are being utilized during floods etc, but I can see it could be used just to annoy users. Would be interesting to hear your take on it.
