Hi There

I read what fredrik is asking for but also agreed with Vin. mIRC is not a bad client if one knows how to use it i've been using it since 2000 so its quiet friendly client i've ever used.

Furthermore regarding channel notices even i have suggestion as a member of help channels we receive complaints regarding channel notice flood etc. so i have a suggestion here if we can have a channel mode where only channel notices can be blocked except channel option verbose notices.

For example if mode set to a channel it will blocked all notices from users except channel operator/staff. it will be very useful if you guys think about it. also if the same mode is set to the channel it will also blocked all the part messages of that channel.

i know the other modes can do the same but they have their own functionality so that above one will be exceptional.

Regard,

Jazzzzz

Hi Emilio,

Well the thought is that as channel notices is handled differently than channel messages by different
irc clients and so perhaps there should be a way to treat a channel notice differently than a regular
channel message in the ircd. Unfortunately I dont have any specific cases where channel notices has
been used for flooding, its more based off of a user complaint and a quick test to see how its actually
handled by mIRC by default. +M is excellent though Im sure some channels only want to use it when
their channel is actually having trouble and not at all time, while a chan mode for filtering chan notices
might rather be used at all times?

Im not sure in which direction bahamut is going, though I wouldnt want bahamut turning into some
bloatware ;)

Hi Fredrik,
Trying to understand more of the context behind this request. Are these notices sent by unregistered nicknames or actual/active members of the team? Just want to avoid going down a rabbit hole where we’re trying to compensate within Bahamut inefficient implementations of certain features and/or messages.

Hi guys,

How about having a channel mode that could filter notices sent to a channel, perhaps from users
without voice/op access to the channel?, or perhaps disable all channel notices in a channel?,
I guess atm bahamut treats a channel notice the same way it does a channel message?, it actually
looks like its using the same code and that the difference is just a flag?.

We had a user complaining about bahamut not being able to filter those out and that his irc client
treated them badly, so I installed mIRC client for the first in ~15 years and checked it out and it
turns out by _default_ mIRC seem to do some weird stuff with channel notices. It gave out this
horribly laggy pinging noise doing god knows what to this poor irc client. For sure it did something
more irritating than an ordinary channel message would do, so perhaps we should consider giving
channel owners a way of specifically filter those channel notices out?. Not sure how often channel
notices are being utilized during floods etc, but I can see it could be used just to annoy users.

Would be interesting to hear your take on it.
