Hostmasking remains one of the most popular requests users raise in #help as well. If we are to be committed to providing an experience to users that is one they appreciate and like, providing basic security measures should be considered. As for other feature suggestions, I think that sort of depends on the direction IRC as a whole is going. I haven't been following a lot of the discussions lately, so I'm unsure of exactly how much modernization we may be looking to implement.

And I know we've beaten this to death before, but I'm still very much in
favor of some sort of user hostmasking, whether hash-based in the ircd,
or tied to services - in such a way where staff (and law enforcement if
necessary) would still be able to see real IPs. :)
