Hi, Is current bahamut (2.0.7) supports IPv6? I tried to put "::" in bind address and it works, so my server listens on both protocols. But no replies from server when I tried to connect to IPv6 using regular telnet or IRC client, on the other hand IPv4 works fine. thank you cheers; vic

Extension of DALnet Protection

Hello all. I am PapaSmurf on DALnet. This post has nothing to do with hostmasking for the general public. I have been assisting users, in DALnet help channels, since August/September 1998. Non-oper helpers, ever since I have been on IRC, have been subjected to packeting, DDoS, and computer invasions from annoying individuals. I believe the IRCd terminology for oper hostmasks (e.g. *(a)staff.dalnet or *@dalnet) is staff_token_address. Would it be possible for official-help-channel AOps, and above, to receive a token address (to help protect them, for their service in helping the network)? Possible restrictions to consider: 1. Helpers must be an AOp (or above) in official help channels. >> This will get non-AOp helpers more dedicated to helping, but this can lead to help abuse (e.g. use of scripts to provide fastest help to users, or AOps becoming lazy if wannabe helpers race to answer everything). 2. Token address possibilities: *@helper; *(a)nonstaff.helper >> I do not know IRCd, and I do not know if multiple token addresses can be assigned. 3. If this option can be made available, can said users have special permissions added (beyond the standard user)? >> Examples: more access to Q/q-lined nicknames and other, selected /stats commands, or expanded access to StatServ commands. As helpers, this would offer great flexibility when trying to explain certain matters to users, such as why certain nicknames cannot be used. 4. Conflict of policies. >> Some help channels may not remove AOps in official help channels for certain disciplinary actions, but DALnet decision makers may have different policies. DALnet policies would have to allow for removal of the token address (regardless of helpers remaining as channel staff or not). If this option is not feasible for DALnet, no worries. I thought I would bring it up to, at the very least, get some discussion going on this mailing list. PapaSmurf

Feature to /report spammers

Hi all, I was thinking about adding a new IRCd command called /report that will let users report spammers. The IRCd will save the last message or its hash from the last 10 (or whatever) users with their user@host masks and users will be able to use the command /report <nick> <message> to report spammers. The /report command will: 1. Verify the message from nick is real. 2. Delete the message or mark it as reported so one wouldn't be able to report the same message more than once. 3. Pass the verified message to a pseudo nick (service) on DALnet or a channel for other networks (will be an ircd.conf option). 4. [DALnet] Service will check the reporter and message against an internal ignore list and possibly even act automatically in some cases. 5. Relay the verified report to IRC Operators. Thoughts? -Kobi. Server IP hide - Disable * /links *

Hi all! Is it possible in Bahamut IRCd to hide the Server IP from the users and to disable the /links command ? 1. Server IP has to be secret due to continuous ddos attacks 2. Unicode UTF-8 chars in channel names

Hello, due to various reasons I discovered a weird bug. The #plock name comes from polish small city's name: Płock. I created #plock, then someone created #płock (yup, with Unicode "ł" letter) and this may lead to potential user theft (or even phishing!).
