How about having a channel mode that could filter notices sent to a channel, perhaps from users
without voice/op access to the channel?, or perhaps disable all channel notices in a channel?,
I guess atm bahamut treats a channel notice the same way it does a channel message?, it actually
looks like its using the same code and that the difference is just a flag?.
We had a user complaining about bahamut not being able to filter those out and that his irc client
treated them badly, so I installed mIRC client for the first in ~15 years and checked it out and it
turns out by _default_ mIRC seem to do some weird stuff with channel notices. It gave out this
horribly laggy pinging noise doing god knows what to this poor irc client. For sure it did something
more irritating than an ordinary channel message would do, so perhaps we should consider giving
channel owners a way of specifically filter those channel notices out?. Not sure how often channel
notices are being utilized during floods etc, but I can see it could be used just to annoy users.
Would be interesting to hear your take on it.
